Just a footnote to the letter in todays Canberra Times ("Tree destruction", Mike Gilligan p. 16, CT Aug 25) describing the felling of a further 8(?) Eucalypts in Corroboree Park.
These included the very tall tree over the barbecue site which had frequently been a nest site for ravens and hobbies. I think it was last used by the Hobbies in 2007 when I took this shot of them beset by currawongs.

The following year they used (following the ravens) the even taller tree over the tennis courts - which was the first major Corroboree P tree to be felled in December 2009.

No sign of the Hobbies since then.  And we are also missing the Frogmouths who used to nest regularly in the Park.
