ANPS visited Wanniassa Hills yesterday. From a botanical view it was fantastic with swathes of Leucopogons in full flower. This was getting the insects excited so the birds that feed on them will soon be around (where not already present).
The more exciting avian interludes were:
- Speckled Warblers checking out the traffic on Erindale Drive;
- 5 Painted Button-quail in an open area just above that thoroughfare;
- 2 Wedge-tailed Eagles getting harassed by at least 2 Australian ravens; and
- A pair of Eastern Rosella inspecting real-estate in Farrer Ridge.
As a final portent of the seasons changing when we arrived home a Shingle-backed Skink was basking on the bitumen at our letterbox.
