The last two weekends while out cycling we've had a look at the Satin
Bowerbird's bower in the back yard of 94 Vasey Crescent in Campbell -
it's right next to the walkway that goes up to Gellibrand St, just
inside the wire fence and easily observed. The first time the male was
in his bower whirring away and rearranging his blue treasures, and the
female was perched on the wire fence above observing. The second time
the male was about but didn't actually enter the bower.

I was ever so impressed to see Satin bower birds whirring and carrying on at
an actual bower in someone's garden in Weston yesterday! Unexpected sight of
the season! Is this bower famous and this near neighbour just one of the
last people to hear of it?

Also some very friendly scrubwrens!
Cheers,
