spent a bit of time this last weekend ferrying stuff from Leeton to
Whitton along Whitton Rd (rather than the busier parallel Griffith
Rd). near the Gogeldrie grain sheds I saw (on several occasions) up
to 3 buff-banded rail feeding on spilled grain on the roadside - there
is some longish grass for cover between the road and nearby channel.
on one occasion had 2 BBR on one side of road and group of 12 brown
quail wandering on the other side, with a couple of blue-faced
honeyeaters on the wires above. also some flocks of about 50 zebra
finches along same road, as well as many huge flocks of starlings.
