Hello
Pam,
I
don't see a response from anyone else, so here is mine. Yes of course it is
a perfectly reasonable request. That doesn't reduce the humour or satire on Martin's comment. Yes
we would be better if all the Mynas could be eliminated from Australia. Programs
like CIMAG are doing very well. I don't know what inspired Martin's comment but
this is my opinion on why I thought it was funny. It is a really off beat
response but it immediately reminded me of that song about "Blame it on the
Kellys" (lots of info on that available via Google), which was on that Ned Kelly
movie with Mick Jagger. In that song every bad thing that happened could be
blamed on the Kellys. That seemed a bit like Bruce's request, even though yes
the Mynas presumably do all of those things, as do some native birds (do some of
those things).
Philip
Am I missing something
here?
This is a perfectly
reasonable request.
And the issue
is…..?

PHOTOS
What about photos of them
helping old ladies across the road or feeding the starving
poor?

COG & CIMAG chat
line users,
I am working with
the editor of Birds Australia’s quarterly magazine “Wingspan”, on preparation of
an article on Common (Indian) mynas.
We are interested in
finding high quality “action” photographs of mynas attacking native species,
displacing them from nesting hollows or nest-boxes, flocking over food scraps,
fouling or invading outdoor food areas, raiding pet-food, attacking pets or
something similar.
