It is astonishing how useful the brisbaneinsects site is for identifying the insects seen in this much different environment.

I have met this species a couple of times this year.  On one occasion it was inside our house and I tried to gently assist it outside by wrapping it in my handkerchief.  the rotten thing promptly stung me, and I would have to say caused me considerable pain for a short while.
