Thank you very much for this fascinating explanation.
 
On another note, a few years ago, when the European Wasp arrived in the ACT there was considerable concern that they may/would cause the extinction of some local insects and the insect population would never be the same again. Do you know if anyone has studied the impact of EWs on the local insect fauna and if so has there been any serious impact on them? 
 
There appears to have been a drop in EW numbers to me locally in the last couple of years. Is anyone monitoring the EW population?
