Liquidamber. An interesting word shift but not yet recognised by Macquarie.
The tree was known as a 'sweetgum' in its Native North America, a name also
used by English speakers for the related Asian species. When it became
popular in Australian gardens it was known by its given scientific name
'Liquidambar'. I suppose it is natural that this would become
'liquidamber', but the trend, if that is what is, seems to be mainly an
Australian one.

Red-rumpoed Parrots in Phillip love the Liquidamber trees on Callum Street.
