Without wishing to sound too alastairesque about this, a small amount of science, if I am using that term correctly, could be introduced to the quest for the last koel call(s) by a little diarising, much as this is against my natural inclination.  I am marking my calendar with a little KA (koel in morning) or  KP (koel in afternoon), by which method I will be able, in due course, to fix the last koel call in this neighbourhood.  If others do likewise – and I am sure some do already -  it might be possible in due course to reach firm conclusions about when the calling has ceased.
