If there is to be monitoring, another behaviour of interest would be the display flight  -  flapping ascent, glide descent – like the Crested Pigeon but, as I recall from my crested-pigeon-free Victorian childhood, noisier and higher.

When Spotted doves have been heard &/or seen in the Flynn & Fraser areas they are usually calling from powerlines or rooftops.

It would be very useful for those gathering information about the species in the ACT & region if observers could mention if the doves are ever seen in yards, gardens, foraging on the ground, their possible diet & their interactions with other species.

Please keep reports and observations coming!

Many thanks

Rosemary
