Yes, Elizabeth I'm well aware of the lorikeets at Cottesloe, having lived for a while in Forrest Street only 0.5 km from here. While this was 1993 they were roosting there already - I alerted the Birds Australia WA people about it at the time, but I understand it took at least another 10 years to start the process of thinking about taking some possible action.

Spotted turtle doves have been in Perth for many years.  They are not
considered a problem.  It's the native, introduced rainbow lorikeet
that is the real problem there.  Hundreds, maybe thousands roost in
the Norfolk Island pines, at Cottelsoe each evening and also at the
airport.  They are causing problems with the native parrots/rosellas
etc.,using their nesting sites.  (Did you see them, Jack?)

Crested pigeon have only recently come to Canberra in large number,
but, yes, they are native
