I saw an emu near Woods Reserve during winter.

This morning there was an adult emu with two young, both young being
about half-adult size, just past the top of the steep climb as you head
out of Cotter towards Tidbinbilla. Approximately on the boundary between
grid squares G14 and G15, I would estimate. This is considerably further
away from the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve than I have seen them before -
on Corin Dam Road between Smokers Gap and Corin Dam is the furthest from
the nature reserve that I've seen them in the past. Might the presence
of young indicate that they are breeding in the area? My ACT bird atlas
(now quite ancient) doesn't indicate any Emu sightings this far North of
Tidbinbilla.
