Hi Tony et al
I don't think there are fewer Rufous Songlark than usual, merely fewer than
last year.
The Blitz Weekend I recorded a pair at the Belconnen Pony Club,
which is across the road from the electricity substation you mentioned.
There are at least 3 pair in H11 about a kilometre NE of there.

Several people have mentioned that there seem to be very few rufous
songlarks about in the Canberra area this year. Perhaps they are just a
bit late arriving. I heard my first yesterday, in the grassland
adjacent to the 3rd fairway at Magpies Belconnen Golf Course in Holt -
that is to say, behind the electric substation along Parkwood Road.
