Hi Martin
Thanks for that comment.
My first lot of Baby Black Cockies arrived
yesterday, to learn how to munch on Pine Cones.
In Robertson, they disappear briefly during
nesting season. They go down into the tall wet Eucalypt forest just about 3 Km
away, near Belmore Falls.
Presumably they breed there, as the large
old Eucalypts have plenty of huge old hollows.
Anyway, yesterday, a family of Black Cockies
parked in a large old Radiata opposite my house.
The babies (flying young) did
their persistent, creaking noises for about 30 minutes, until I went out
with a camera.
First babies of the season, to my
knowledge.
Hopeless trying to photograph black cockies
in a dark pine tree, against a grey sky.
Cheers
