I think we jumped the gun.  HANZAB says of pallid Cuckoos  "Many reports of supposed fledgling cuckoos being fed by adult cuckoos."  Elsewhere in that species account they mention the impact of the Juvenile's begging call causing just about every bird in the neighbourhood to stop what they are doing and feed the young Cuckoo.

Hi!

The Pallid Cuckoos must be new at parenting, as obviously they don't know that the normal thing is to get some other birds to do it.

This morning, at Wamboin, two adult Pallid Cuckoos feeding a begging dependent young, plus our first OB Oriole for the season. It must be Spring!
