A friend who was course setting for Sunday’s orienteering event at Yununbeyan State Conservation Area snapped this fellow yesterday.  You do see them occasionally in cold weather sunning themselves at their entrances.

Yununbeyan is an interesting area in COG’s AOI, relatively close, west of the Captain’s Flat road.  In 2007 Margaret McJannett and Charles led a walk there.

At this morning’s midweek orienteering at Bluett’s Pines I came across at least 3 Noisy Friarbirds  -  could have been more, but couldn’t really stop.

Just now I was driving through the Griffith back streets between Captain Cook and Canberra Ave.  Aggregations of SC Cockatoos almost everywhere you looked.  I would estimate at least 500.  Mainly feeding on nature strips on corms and rootlets.  Not really unusual for this time of year, but I’m not sure I’ve seen such high total numbers before.
