There have been many white cockies in the English
Oak trees that line Macgregor Street in Deakin. They have been snipping off the
leafy tips of the trees, then passing the tips through their beaks. Some
people suggested the birds were "sharpening their beaks", but when I had a
closer look, I found a sticky substance on the back of the leaves that the birds
may have been trying to lick off. Has anybody heard of, or seen cockies doing
this?
