Hi Stephen,
me too. except i reckon pre-rain the population of Coots was well over 300.
On one occasion I counted 210 in the "basin" north of the bridge.
`   Yesterday I counted 13 Coots and zero Hardheads.

The pattern is repeated at West Belconnen Pond ; there were no Hardheads there on friday and less than twenty Coots.

Apologies for taking a while to lodge this collective observation, but some may find it interesting ...

My irregular but frequent morning walk is around Yerrabi Pond ( the ?top lake?). After the heavy rain in early February the population of the lake which has been reasonably stable over some years suddenly changed. Specifically, the 200+ coots almost entirely disappeared?my highest count since is 10, and the Hardheads have gone completely. I have not seen one since that rain.
