Apologies for taking a while to lodge this collective observation, but some may find it interesting ...

 

My irregular but frequent morning walk is around Yerrabi Pond ( the ‘top lake’). After the heavy rain in early February the population of the lake which has been reasonably stable over some years suddenly changed. Specifically, the 200+ coots almost entirely disappeared—my highest count since is 10, and the Hardheads have gone completely. I have not seen one since that rain.
