FigishBird [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

I saw a bird approaching from a distance
while at Mawson soccer fields on Monday evening.  I initially thought
it was a bowerbird but as it flew just overhead into foliage of a tree
behind me it appeared to be a Figbird. Only diagnostic features to go on
were giz and heavily streaked breast. No binos unfortunately. Still worth
checking out any orioles in Woden valley.

Hi,
Photos were taken from central Victoria (Box Ironbark country). The reason
is to confirm my own thoughts about id for species. I actually thought
there was a hooded Robin in there but only one person has agreed. The photos
are being used to id birds observed in point counts I am doing as part
of my PhD at ANU. I will be doing a talk on the project next year at one
of the COG meetings.
