(Apologies for previous message glitsch).
I was walking up to the Ainslie shops on Monday evening - along Campbell
St approaching Cox St and its rows of cedars when out of the corner of
my eye at about 200m distance and 200 ft height a hawk streaked across
the sky and as I turned to look at it, it grabbed what appeared to be a
starling-sized bird (overtaking it?) and then flew straight into the
setting sun with its victim dangling so I missed being able to see what
it was, and what it had grabbed.
I'm pretty certain it was a hobby- as it looked too small for a
peregrine. Its the first time I think I've seen an aerial kill here-
very dramatic and very very fast.
