Speaking of flying foxes/fruit bats, I'm not sure if anyone has noted
this so far, but the summer colony/camp of fruit bats is back in the
pine trees in Commonwealth Park near Regatta Point, at least they were a
few days ago. This is about the same time they wee reported in Feb 2008.
Numbers not great at the moment, at a glance. Were they there last year?

At the moment we have flying foxes coming in at night to feed on our
figs. The birds are still feeding in the fig tree as well...there were
several wattle birds in the tree when I arrived home about half an
hour ago.
