In a neighbour's tree, I have located four
Yellow-rumped Thornbills. They have been there for more than two
weeks. Sometimes they are silent and invisible and sometimes active and
noisy. I assume there is a nest but I have not yet located
it.
Whenever I stand under the tree, even if they have
been undetectable up until then, I am "greeted" by any number from one up to all
four coming down on low branches, barely an arm's length away, fluttering
wings and chattering with their little tinkly noises.
I have interpreted this behaviour as
Margaret suggested about the WTG behaviour. But I would love to
find the nest to be more confident.
