It look me a flip through the index of my field guide but I eventually figured 
out that you're talking about Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos.  I saw one fly 
through our back yard in Kambah a few weeks ago and I agree, it's fabulous to 
see such birds in suburbia or a major city.  The most I've ever seen in one 
place was a flock of about 50 in Port Macquarie many years ago.

I'd love to get a really good recording of their call.
