I was going to suggest Square-tailed Kite as the flight you describe suits and it's the right time for passage birds. One that got away...;-)

Hi Dmitris,
Sorry, I should have mentioned. It appeared a browny
colour, more rufous/lighter than I would normally expect from a Whistling Kite
(although not out of realm for a Little Eagle). As I said, I only really surely
noticed the black wingtips, but inside the wingtips it was certainly paler. I
won't go so far as to say white, I couldn't tell from that distance. DAMMIT,
should have checked it out close, stuff friends and classes when it comes to a
possibly rare bird.
