That is an interesting idea though seems odd to me. Given that both species are common, that makes it seem odd to me that we get frequent hybrids. I would expect many hybrids if one species is very common and the other one is rare.

I was wondering if the species that that hybrids associate with would be either the mother or father (either that individual or the same species) rather than one species or the other.

I agree with Harvey that the density of Crimson and Eastern Rosellas around about makes it more likely that hybrids will crop up (also that Easterns (more open country birds) and Crimsons (more forest birds) are in Canberra brought into 'unntaural' proximity).

I have seen hybrids mainly about the Hughes/Red Hill area (where I spend most time!), but unlike Harvey I have always seen them associating with Easterns as mates, not Crimsons.
