Todays ANPS Wednesday walk went from Orroral Campground to the car park for Nursery swamp.

At the start the wind was very light and there seemed to be quite a movement of Yellow-faced honeyeaters and the White-eared Honeyeaters were very evident. Fuscous honeyeaters and scarlet robins were also evident. When the wind rose the birds became much less evident, until we got the lunch spot, overlooking the grassy area by the car park for the Nursey Swamp trail.

At the lunch spot there were a few, sedentary, Yellow-faced honeyeaters and two more Fuscous Honeyeaters.  One Diamond firetail beside the bridge over the creek, at least 4 Flame Robins (2 imm, 2 fem), a couple of Southern Whiteface and about 10 Dusky Woodswallows.

On arriving home a reliable observer from Carwoola reported seeing a Spotted Turtle Dove.  He noted that he was familiar with these birds from Sydney, and regretted that their cat was asleep. One can be hopeful that the local peregrines will pass by shortly.  I will use the local newsletter to ask people to keep an eye open for these birds and to advise me of any further sightings.
