Howdy All,

I am not sure how late into the season they normally breed, but there are currently young ducklings with the Maned Ducks at the ANBG. There has presumably been 2 different clutches as well, as on Monday the pair of them were treking about with 10 babies...... and today there were 17 babies. They nabbed some ducklings from someone else I would assume? As far as I know they only start wandering once all the eggs have hatched, so for more to appear they must have got them from someone else, or found them abandoned. Anyway, whatever the reasons there were 17 ducklings with a single pair of adults this afternoon on and around the large pond directly below the cafe, and the lawn immediately below that. Very, very cute. I have photos of the happy event if anyone is interested. <grin>

Cheers.
