We have 2 nest of these wasps above our back door and I was concerned they may be too close to a thoroughfare but I left them there hoping we could coexist. They seem happy to keep out of our way and even though we move past them constantly they have never appeared disturbed by us.

Agreed, Nick. They're as much a part of our native landscape as the birds are, and should be welcomed as such. As long as you won't brush the nest while sharing the yard with them, there'll be no need for you to disturb each other.

good luck and enjoy them.

They're paper wasps. We have a few of these nests under our eaves that have
been there for a long time. Seeing that they're well out of reach I just
leave them alone, and no-one has been stung. If the nest you show is at a
height where you might disturb it going to the letterbox then you should
probably get rid of it.

Paper wasps predate on caterpillars and so have some beneficial effect in
the garden.

Hi

We have this wasp nest near our letter box on a bush. Does anyone know
what they are and should we get rid of them or leave them there?
