I do miss the Gang Gangs.
Lately we have a lot of Rainbow Bee-eaters in the trees out the front of out place.
We were out attempting to count them the other day as the racket indicated there were lots.
Suddenly a loud clap of thunder went off and three trees erupted with Bee-eaters.
We estimated around two to three hundred with about a hundred a tree.
It is certainly one of the more spectacular things we have seen here.
Their noise is nearly defining some times.
Sandra your email of your wonderful and mentioning the Rainbow Bee-eaters just reminded me of this.
Thanks

yesterday morning I walked through around the lake, and on Aspen Island there were six rainbow bee-eaters having a lovely time near the Carillon tower. Mostly flying, but occasionally swooping down to pick insects out of the low shrubbery. this is a species that's previously eluded me in the ACT, although I've seen them regularly out in the Riverina over recent months. There was a group of red-rumped parrots bathing.
In Commonwealth Park there were eight Gang Gangs making quite a racket.
