FW: Showing off my Wagtail

Expert opinion confirms it is a Black backed wagtail, Motacilla alba lugens or M. lugens depending on whether you regard it as a race of the white wagtail or a separate species. Both are rare vagrants in Australia. There are only  three or four previous records of lugens in Australia and none in the NT. No-one else has seen it yet, but there will be a few people looking at the  Leanyer sewerage treatment ponds over the next few days.

 

I am going up on Sunday to see if I can spot this bird.
