questions:
Red Wattlebird: incubation period 16 to 21 days;
nestling period: ca. 16 days, fledglings are fed for 2-3 weeks after
having left the nest (info. from HANZAB).
At least in suburban Canberra 2 broods are very
common (some times overlapping, i.e. the 2nd brood is started before the young
of the first brood are independent), in good years also 3 broods possible (from
our local pair the young of the 2nd brood has just fledged, and it is only
early November).
Yellow-rumped Thornbill: this is a species that
often breeds cooperatively system, i.e. a pair together with helper(s) raise the
brood. So to see more than 2 birds building a nest is quite common.
