Yellow rumpted thornbill nest in lone exposed euc tree on eastern side of Mt Taylor next to gate near Gouger Street (near the two unfinished houses on the block where the houses were burnt in the 2003 fire) about third of way up tree on horse track (fence side). Very active building. Does anyone know if more than one pair will build the one nest. I thought I saw more than two birds building.
2. Currawong nest in our garden with two nestlings. Parent using top of electicity pole as a "kitchen table" to break/cut food into bite size pieces to feed to young. Back and forth, back and forth. They looked like small squares of bread carefully broken up. Just like you would but in your soup......
3. What is the average time for a red wattlebird from hatch to fledge. The young are gone from the nest out the front. Don't know if they fledged or if they were a meal for the Currawong family........
4. Boobook calling in our garden a few nights ago, very strong and loud call.
