Subject: [canberrabirds] COG's blitz results so far
I
am delighted to report I have been inundated with datasheets – 194 hard
copy ones and 53 electronic, so far. We’ve covered 99 grid cells; by 59
named observers; recorded 165 species, 65 of which were breeding, or thinking
about it (“di”). Special thanks to those who blitzed through
infirmity. And to those who made a special effort to record species we often
miss: Lewin’s Honeyeater; owlet-nightjar; boobook; Painted Button-quail;
koel; sea-eagle; Whiskered Tern; Cicadabird. All named blitzers will be in the
running for lucky draw prizes so make sure you come along to the November 12th
COG meeting if you can. I’ll give a brief update on results as well. If
you haven’t entered them electronically, posted or handed in your
datasheets yet, please do so asap, or let me know that you will be bringing
them to the COG meeting. A little oddity of this year’s blitz –
many more of you than usual observed birds copulating! Geoffrey, I can feel a
cartoon coming on. b
