In Jenny's absence I co-ordinated this survey
yesterday.
After all the activity for the past week, hopes
were high for some very good sightings.
Alas the elements conspired against, with a very
strong wind greeting us as we arrived round 7 am, the first poor birding morning
in about a week.
A total of 46 species were recorded, but with
surprisingly few migrants, the most abundant (by far) of these being the Noisy
Friarbird, a pair of which were already nest building.
Both gerygones were present as is usual.
Also a Dollarbird was seen, the first for the season to my
knowledge.
A couple of Superb Parrots and a single Pallid
and Fan-tailed Cuckoo round off the highlights.
Once again my thanks to all those that helped
survey in such disappointing conditions - it was a pity that the one
morning we're out there in 3 months was less
than ideal.
