Subject: | Goshawk or Sparrowhawk?? |

Simon Bennett and I have been discussing length of toes and other clues,
but I was still not convinced either way about this bird seen at Callum
Brae around where nesting Goshawks have been reported. I posted it
to flickr as a Goshawk but on balance and after Simon's thoughts I'm now
more on the Sparrowhawk side. Can anyone definitively
identify this bird, size didn't make any impression on me; neither small
nor large compared to others I've seen. Is it a wide-eyed _expression_ or a
heavy-hooded menacing look? etc. Thanks! Julian |
