For the last 3 days I've seen the spotless crake near the creek in Kingston foreshore - between Eyre and Dawes, east of Printers way; there are 'stepping stones' across the creek and around 5 pm the crake is about 7-12 m north of them, coming out on the w side; it favours a spot near a break in the reeds, where there is more mud; when I've disturbed it, it comes out 5-10 minutes later and there are great views if you stay back a bit;
This morning, going over the bridge nearest Dawes/Printers, a buff-banded rail on the w side of the water;
