This morning I took a short drive to Namadgi Visitor Centre and followed up on Jack's sighting.

I spent about an hour there, mostly watching the crakes. Today there were 3 present, although one was far less confiding about venturing out into the open for long periods.

At least one of the birds had quite red legs and I was able to see some barring under its tail. One of the other birds had grey (or plain coloured anyway) legs and I didn't notice any undertail markings. I didn't really get a long look at the third bird but my impression was that it too was a juvenile.

The two bolder birds were quite happy to be observed from around 20 - 30 metres distance (as long as I didn't move too fast) but they were quick to run for cover whenever a magpie or raven flew overhead.
