Following Geoffrey's posting I went to the NBG on Monday, and found at least one of the birds without trouble where he described. I watched the bird repeatedly undertaking a curious shuffle-stamping in the litter, followed by a pause and sometimes a pounce. It was reminiscent of some waders in puddles. I'd not seen BTs doing this before (though I don't suppose I've spent too much time watching them either). More relevantly HANZAB has only one reference to it, from Tassie.

No sign of them this morning.

good birding, all
