1)
For the last 3 weeks I have had 4 Noisy Miners
around Rocky Knob, some distance from their usual haunts. In due course I
expect them to drift back to their headquarters, perhaps Callum Brae, rather than
stay on here. This kind of winter wandering is not unusual for the
species.
2)
A resident (adult, I think female) P Currawong that I
occasionally feed is starting to talk. That is, when I appear it
communicates by an uncurrawonglike sound, a soft hoarse ‘kwif, kwif, kwif’.
This is possibly imitative of human speech, although that possibility would be
stronger if there were anyone called Cliff around here, which there is not.
3)
I notice the book at the entrance to FSP is gone, or at
least all of it except the back cover. I don’t know when this was,
as I haven’t been there for a while.
