That spoonbill was indeed sleepy. We hung around for a while before it showed
it's bill to my waiting children.
Also saw about 5 YFHE and 2 WNHE in the gums behind the bridge and about 20 New
Holland Honey Eaters, but they are there most days I go there.
In the afternoon (4.30) I checked out the area at Crace/Mitchell looking for
swift parrots. Didn't see any until I was back on Hoskins street where I parked
the car. 16 of them flew overhead in large circles - at least I think they were
swift parrots, because of the definite red bits on the undersides.
There were also 11 red rumped parrots sitting along the powerlines, preening
and resting.
The rest were the usual suspects: Kookaburra, Fairy Wrens, Crimson Rosellas,
Ravens and a large Family of Choughs (17) - quite impressive when they are all
in flight und not just walking around.
