Hi

I don't have an explanation on the evolution/development of migration, but my
personal (unscientific) theory on why migration patterns stop or change is that
birds may be thrown off course by radiowaves aka mobile phone signals.

My husband's uncle used to race pidgeons and the pidgeon owners noticed that
the instances of birds getting lost or taking a lot longer to get home rose
paralell to the introduction and rise in numbers of phone towers.

Cheers
Susanne
