If I may be permitted a moment of sweet remembrance, as a callow youth I found Swift Parrots on Rocky Knob (now Rocky Knoll), Carnegie Crescent, Narrabundah in about 1959/1960. They were feeding on lerps on the Yellow Box trees there.
 
I reported it, but was told it was not possible /highly unlikely/ who would believe a 12 year old?
 
Someone from CSIRO Wildlife came out to check, and believe it or not, we found a recently deceased bird on the ground. Swift Parrot first official record for ACT entered into the records.
