Steve,
very interesting. Had Glossies many years ago on
the western side of Mt Ainslie near the transformer station, and on another
occasion signs of feeding in the same area.
In the past I have seen Glossies often roosting
rel. close to their evening drinking spot, but not always, especially if
disturbed before settling for the night, and then they can cover some
distance to a different roost site. My guess would be similar to yours, that
they may have roosted rel. close to the fire and decided to better
relocate.
