I have done some maintenance to the database COG
Atlas online (at http://cogatlas.org.au )
There are changes to the Standard Locations
table and you might find some addresses revised slightly to assist sorting and
logical interpretation:
For example what was 25 Pickles Street Scullin is now
Scullin 25 Pickles Street as are other similar addresses
Some references which started with “Grid”
have had the “Grid” removed, since the grid ref is
there. So “Grid O16 Wongabella (O16)” is now simply “ Wongabella
(O16)”
So please, if you are entering a new site start with
the General location first , e.g. Cook, with further details following - Cook
Bourne X Lyttelton.
Don’t start with generic words such as Grid or
with numbers if possible.
I would encourage everyone who reports sightings on this chat line to use
the online database to record their observations.
I am very happy to assist if you have any questions
or problems with the online data entry system. I am happy to come to your
place to give you a demo. The system does work well, and I have recently
entered over 150 records online. However the system is not 100 bullet
proof, and can sometimes be a bit pesky. But it is an easy and efficient
data entry system once you get past the traps for young players.
