Hi Con

Most of Yanununbeyan occurs on soils of low fertility - that's why the bush is still there. Both Hooded Robin and Brown Treecreeper are birds of woodlands which occur on the more fertile soils. The only place I have found Brown Treecreepers in Yanununbeyan is along the Queanbeyan River in Apple Box woodlands, and they can be found further upstream and downstream in similar habitat including Googong Foreshores Reserve.

Also in Googong I have found Chestnut-rumped Heathwren in areas where the undergrowth was regenerating thickly after bushfire.I haven't been there for a while so I'm not sure if the habitat is still suitable. Hooded Robins can also be found around Googong, and if they occur in the Yanunubeyan area it would probably be in similar habitat, ie. semi-cleared woodland.

good luck
