Would not be so quick to discount local breeding of Koels
because we are not on coast. Personally saw one successful breeding
in Goulburn and based on a comparison of the juvenile calls there to calls here
suspect that the Griffith/Red Hill/Narrabundah Koel scored though have not seen
the result.

Subject: [canberrabirds] Quail and Juvenile Koel in ACT
Hello all again!
Thanks again for your help with the Quail. Brown it is (won't go through all
the id points onto why it isn't a King as it's fairly obvious.)
Concerning the you Koel seen in the ACT if it wasn't observed beeing fed by a
host species. I would say that this youngster is just coming through. The
species has had a very good year on the coast (I found five different juvs fed
by RWBs with 500 m of my house there).
Cheers!
Dimitris
