Re Spotted Dove.
I don't have the new Christidis & Boles, but if
they have brought the former Spotted Turtle-dove into line with the rest of the
world, then they have done those of us with a deep interest in Asian birds
as well as Australian birds a big favour.
Hopefully BA will adopt the name and I can cease
having to put different name labels on my photos of the species taken in
Austrralia and overseas!
Cheers,
Bruce
PS We have sparrows (the house variety) here in my
GBS in Gordon all year. A quick look through my GBS records for the past year
shows that they are more numerous (on average) during the colder months than in
summer. They have bred (successfully last year, unsuccessfully this year) in the
eaves of the house next door to ours. Mynas are present all year but dont seem
to interact with the sparrows at all.
