Given the cyclical nature of exchanges on this chatline, now might
be an occasion for Ian to recount his meeting with the Cuppers in FNV back in
his motor-biking days, and me to recall Lindsay Cupper’s Great Chough
Tower which stopped the joggers in their tracks in Campbell Park, a few years
ago. Incidentally, I’ve not seen or heard any more about the nature
mega-doc (chough-specific, as I remember) that Lindsay was acquiring footage
for. g

The useful book by Jack and Lindsay Cupper "Hawks in
focus' has quite a bit to say about, and some rather nice photographs of, Grey
Falcons. They mention that most of the birds they found were n the dry
interior, but do say they had a sighting in the Millewa district of Victoria.

Hi GD -- thank you for putting me straight and bringing me

What is the proverb "Fools jump in where angels fear to
tread".
Apologies Terry, apparently Grey falcons have been seen in
the ACT before.
To me they are a rare bird of the interior, rarely seen, a
bird that doesn't exist according to the Big Twitch man (correct?), and one I
have trouble with when reporting any of my sightings to the Atlas people.
Of my 4 remote sightings over the years, they take a lot of convincing that it
was a grey falcon. To me an unmistakable bird.
