A couple of weeks back at the coast we saw a small group of needletails, hawking very low over the tree tops, at dusk. There was a twenty minute window between the last needletail of the day and the appearance of the first bat of the evening!

Cheers

Just back from spending the weekend at Narooma on the South Coast. Some birding highlights were the 60+ WHITE-THROATED NEEDLETAILS over the town on Saturday evening with at least 1 FORK-TAILED SWIFT among them and CICADABIRD, BASSIAN THRUSH and WONGA PIGEON on the Ringlands Rotary Walk along the shores of Wagonga Inlet. For the first time ever I was also swooped by a very vocal SACRED KINGFISHER guarding its nesting site.

Cheers
Marnix
